The Album

(This is a brief experiment that I may work on more later, All Musical Lines are from sons on the Album Tapestry by Carole King)

I feel the earth Move under my feet

Almost a perfect eighteen inch square wrapped in newspaper decorated with his unique doodles and poetry. I knew that this was a special gift. The gift of music. He was never to give a gift without long and careful consideration. Each lyric and note was something that had engrained itself in his hippie soul. In may ways he was giving her a piece of his soul.

He had removed the shrink wrap and pulled out the inner paper sleeve. It had been plain white sleeve before his ball point pen had written a note “most are life savers when you are feeling blue” he wrote.

She knew how precious this gift was even if the salutation was a bit wish washy, “This is for you with love from, at the very least your friend always,”

Months later I stood on the railway platform and waved good by, for the last time. Tears dripped off her chin as she heard a few of the lyrics that meant so much to her.

One more song about movin' along the highway

A year later it was her time to leave. He new beau was not one for a life sound track. It was his best friend he was a boy meant for letters and science. She was spiritual and full of music. His best introduced her to new music. She introduced both of them to The Album> Their well bread rich lives had trouble hearing it but it only attracted them to her more.

She lay in her beaus bed each both happy and unfulfilled. It was her turn to leave. He wiped a tear from her eye but in the end could not walk out the door with her to say good bye it was too hard.

And it's too late baby, now it's too late

Another boy gave her an album It was just as sweet but not as precious. Full of love songs and crooning. And after a year of romance it had sizzled and saying good bye to him was hard as he came to stay with her family for a few days.

The fought and tried to make it up. Several time but she had found distraction while she had been home.

She put him on a plane and sighing with relief she got ready for the next year at school.

My life has been a tapestry of rich and royal hue

She had met him breifly at a party several months before but his return was to see her.
He had had trouble that he hid from her for a while but she learned them all and they became close fought and loved as much as any two people could.

She was young and exotic to him a world traveler from many states away he never traveled much. Her presence in a wedding got him to take his first plane ride.

After two years they could neither be together or apart. The music of his soul and her soul were and unpleasant fugue.

They needed to be in different cities to finally end all the trouble and entanglement between them.

I'd like to know if your love
Is a love I can be sure of

They didn’t know when they had met. They had know each other for at least 4 years. And it became obvious to all of their friends that they were a couple before they realized it.

As a valentines gift he gave her a simple wrapped 4 inch square

“I know how much this means to you” he said. It was a CD of the Album.
“I knew there was a reason I married you” she said

When my soul was in the lost and found
You came along to claim it

This is motivation I've needed to reawaken my creativity.

Baby boy

It has been a long day. My eyes and body are tired. My head nods over the page I have been trying to read. In an effort relieve the pull of my weariness. I stretch my arms straight above my head my fist clenched. This always makes me think of my baby boy stretching in his sleep or when he wakes either time a sweet smile on his face. I sit for few minutes reveling in that image of my mind.
I open my eyes and look over my book. Not so small anymore I see my baby boy diligently sounding out words on the page in front of him silently struggling to read the words in his book.

Remembering

He stood in front of her their conversation of general memories of college flowed easily. He smiled several times calling her by name. After a quarter of an hour his smile quirked to the side.
“You really don’t remember me do you?” he asked. Her blush would not let her lie as it crept up her neck to her face.

That was the first hole her memory that was always so clear had a hole a 6 foot 2 blond hole. It was not that long ago that they should have seen each other on a daily basis. And she was not that old. “Mommy Brain I guess” was her weak reply. They laughed and a better remembered friend came over and rescued her.

There was 20 or so adults standing on the bricked patio on front of the admin building. She went to sit on the steps. She knew that these were people she had been to college with. Most had been in an exclusive club with her they had lived in the same dorm and played games together. But she only recognized about 15 of them. She assumed that it was normal physical changes and some spouses that she did not know.

10 years later she knew that there were holes in her head. Large gaps of time. Although she was able to recount some moments of her history with great detail things that she did remember she would surprise friends with the details of a particular day.

She would from time to time realize that she could not remember something that she always known the name of the boy she had walked to school with in kindergarten, her phone number she had grown up with, her oldest friend’s pets name.

She decided to write down all her memories the people the places as she really remembered them, right or wrong they needed to be recorded.

She bought paper and pens she bought new software for her computer It was time to write it down after all her kids would want to know.

The Real Wonder Woman

As any good geek my son had strict rules about his super heroes.

Tonight Big Bang Theory had all the actors dress up as the Justice League.

As he surveyed the costumes he looked at me and said:

"That isn't a good Wonder Woman costume. Wonder Woman doesn't have a cape"

I responded: "She does some times"

As any one of my age would do I found a Linda Carter picture:

To which he says: "That not the real Wonder Woman, Mom"

I guess I am getting old.

This is his version of the real wonder woman

At least it is not Megan Fox

But I think she is a pretty hot Wonder Woman

Six times seven

Today I celebrated my 42nd Birthday...

And my Husband in his great knowledge realized that this was an auspicious day and that for a girl with a love for Doulas Adams her 42nd Birthday was important and should be gifted a ppropriately.

The hardest part he says was that I have a lot of H2G2 swag as it is.

So after careful research and consideration I got from him:

"Douglas Adams at the BBC" a 3 CD set of a look back on Doulas life presented by Simon Jones The first Arthur Dent

The 2005 "Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy" Dvd

A CD of a performance in 1995 that Douglas Adams did in London of some reading from the famed 5 book trilogy.

"the Deeper Meaning of Liff: a dictionary of things there aren't any words for yet - but ought to be" by Doulas Adams and John Lloyd

A pronounce this a great selection.

My son picked out a Christmas Stocking with a Santa on it and a Santa Spud (I collect Santas so this is nice)

My daughter got me a d20 necklace and This Shirt

And they all chose me the next Glee Dvd....

Happy Birthday to me.

In other Birthday new I watched the final episode of the BBC Sherlock today and I am now mad at Steven Moffat....He needs to make more NOW!
