Writing together
My good friend Heather and I decided to share brain power tonight to get something written.
We used a 4 line structure with the word Clown from "Daily Writing Practice"
We each wrote a first line and then swapped so each one has 2 lines from each of us. It was a lot of fun and here are the results:
Version VHVH
Laying in the bed listening to the pips and clicks of the machines, I am drawn to the sound of the shuffling-flapping rhythm of footsteps. I slip out of bed and walk to the door of the room, slowly craning my neck to see who is responsible for the flapping sound, but no one is there: the hall is empty. I turn to go back to my bed, convinced it is a hallucination from the heavy medication, and see a brightly colored clown holding a bunch of balloons looking at my body in the bed. "Oh shit," I mutter, "I'm in clown hell."
Version HVHV
The doctor was perplexed by the man's symptoms: wide darting eyes, heavy sweats, stuttering, the hospital curtain clenched tightly between his ashen fingers. As Dr. Jones listened to the halting mutters, he noticed the words evil, red, and harlequin made the man's heart race harder. Dr. Jones' head snapped up fiercely, his face as sour as vinegar lemons. "Who the hell brought a clown to visit someone who is clourophobic?!" he shouted as the smiling painted face of a French clown receded from the curtains hanging on the other side of the bed.

I signed up for an email swap over on swap-bot called "Stream of consciousness EMAIL" swap. The goal was to post a prompt for your partner and when assigned a partner find their prompt and just use it as a starting point for an email to them. I knew when I saw this I would have to do this. The prompt I received was: " My life would be much easier if..."
This is what I wrote:
My life would be so much easier if I could just let my stream of consciousness come out and everyone would know what I was on about. I mean you know when you are at work and you boss tell you some thing and you have a really long and drawn out story that illustrate what they are talking about and as you tell the story you get interrupted and you forget the whole point of the story until about 3 hours later?
Well if only I could just alt and it would suddenly be come apparent to everyone in the room yeah may be I need some sot of translator to translate my thoughts into some sort of clear and well delivered statement that everyone could get.
yeah that would make everything easier. Also people would have to realize how absolutely brilliant my thoughts are and act immediately on the. That would make e delght verything so much easier. that and a self cleaning house.
You know how self cleaning ovens work with the very high heat to burn everything off. Do they have those in the UK I don't ever remember seeing them advertised when I lived there well adverts are much more low key in the UK than in the US. But them I haven't lived there since 1987 which blimey was probably just before you were born. That I find really scare to me. I've been back to visit since but things change so fast I don't know what is there any more. I do have to say I miss all the British sweets. We can get some here now like fruit and nut bars but not any good fruit gums or turkish delight. I could really go for a orange club bar right now. Those were some of my favorite way back when. I hope I can get them when I am in Ireland in August.
Back to the self cleaning house I wonder if one could make one that would just suck everything back into place. toys into the toy boxes books to the shelves and rubbish into the bins. Oh I would never say rubbish and bins talking to friends her in the US I would say trash and trash cans or waste paper baskets. Anyway I don't think I would want to to clean like a self cleaning oven because it would burn everything up.
I feel at this point I should summarize because some one once said that was a good thing to do. To make my life easier I need a self cleaning house and someone to keep me from my stream of consciousness talking and writing, and summarize what I am on about.
Thanks for reading.
Some day I get to Wales I really want to go to Cardiff but that may have to do with Torchwood and my current obsession with all thing Doctor Who (and well there is the cast of Torchwood......) By now you think I am a complete crazy American I am sure.
-Vicki AKA geekgirl33 who could type her stream of consciousness for days but will spare you now. because i could go on about my families love for all that is Hayao Miyazaki........

Live long and prosper
Ever since I was a little girl I have had a thing for Leonard Nimoy. More specifically spock.
Today I was reminded of the story of the vulcan greeting hand sign. Nimoy said once that he got the idea for the sign from his Rabbi as it was something that he did during a blessing. I was reminded of this by a Rabbi. My daughter and I attended a service for a friend who was getting/becoming Bat Mitzvah ( pardon me I have forgotten how to phrase this). Any way at the end the Rabbi had her put her hands out in a pasture of giving and then of receiving and then both hands stretched out with her hands in the classic Vulcan pose. My daughter's Jaw dropped and her head snapped toward me.I told her the story and she was surprised and exited to learn this bit of fandom trivia. Now if only I had time to watch some classic Trek before sleep takes over.Tuesday, May 18, 2010
25 years later
So it has happened.
Now what?
The ticky box was checked yes.
The idea of friendship rekindled
Joy and fear grip me at once
I look in the mirror and see
25 years of change
A 41 year old woman
The 15 year old girl is gone
But so much remains
Certain passions
Principals that make a foundation
So I take a chance.
I will start the letter
The note the email
“So what have you been up for the last 25 years?”

The Missing Picture
It was gone. It should be right there. In my mind's I I could see it.
I stared at the empty spot. I remember the picture. His arm draped awkwardly across my shoulder although his smile and mine did not show any hint of awkwardness.
A snap shot of me looking a bit more grown up than I had ever outside of theater make up.
It was the only picture I cold remember of the two of us. In my mind we had been quite the item. Although that awkward arm could tell a million people of the unease of the physical affection between us.
We were pretty much good kids. I have always thought he was the better kids. He was the one that had the better grades, the stronger adherence to principal.
The absence of the picture makes me wonder. Did I get rid of it in a fit of anger or in symbology of a new and greater love?
Now when I have found him, in a manner of speaking, I want that picture to be there. Even the rough parts we good memories. I was such a short time in reflection but so full.
Why of all the boys there has been am I so attached to this one. In the end it was full of promise that never was fulfilled. It was full of fettered passion and longing. It was a first love. It was pure. I have never had another relationship so pure.
The only regret I have is the current absence of the picture. Maybe I’ll find it again.

Guess the B things...
These are all from my own photo collection.
Time to guess OK GO!
Put you guesses in the comments.
I
TURN IT OFF
(a ramble on feeling good)
Reading and watching TV have made me worried. I have been worried. I try and keep check on my emotions and in the end I find myself hiding. I worry about my kids about my husband but most of all about my self.
But today I am not worried about me because right now. I am content even in the momentary betrayal of my body as it send out pain signals. I know that will pass it always dose. But I like the silence of the house with the sounds of the refidgerator, Washing machine and the happily purring cat drowning out the clicks of the key board as I write.
I have for years said I am not good alone. But maybe when I am really alone I am at my best. Right now I don’t care how messy the kids have left the house. Right now I don’t care that the world will come crashing in soon.
I can sit and write. I did it and I even wrote on a prompt that I didn’t think I could do. I may be horrid with no grammar and bad spelling. But it was to the prompt it was real and honest.
I have also done some cross stitch, something I have not done for years. I may even finish the project today get it framed on Thursday so my friend can have it next week. I have several small doodles done and more to go for the swap I am doing. I feel accomplished. Now just to make lunch.
I’ll do the less satisfying things after I eat. They won’t depress me either.
For right now in my contentedness I can ignore the commercials and the media which keep telling me that since I am not ecstatic all the time I must be depressed. I win I am not.

The One-Minute Writer: Today's Writing Prompt: RAH RAH RAH!
Here is my entry:
In our house my small and light weight son seldom eats well….So when he starts to eat well we cheer him on.
Take another bite
chew it up
Yum yum yum
Put that food in your tum
Yum yum yum
Soon you’ll gain another pound
Getting bigger is your goal
Yummy food goes in the tum
