It is nice to have had a month of creativity self imposed and so very worth while. I feel it was very apropos to end with something I have always wanted to make but have never been able to. And in a spontaneous way.
I plan to make something every week I'll post it here (http://geekgirl33.posterous.com/). I also plan to cook and kick my food blog back up here(http://eatingwoolydunns.blogspot.com/). I also will be writing over here (http://vickiswritingbetaplace.blogspot.com/). And while the pudding cooked I did get my son's hat started. I promised him it would be done in a week.Sunday, February 28, 2010
Final day..bittersweet....
I had plans today of what to make. a pillow, another loaf of banana bread, pumpkin cookies, a mini monster, finally start my son's hat. finish one of my many projects started from years past. None of that was to be. Nothing was right. Friends came over as often happens on a Sunday night. we played some games and the kids ran wild. I made a little rice to add to the dinner a friend brought something m son always eats much of. Oddly we a lot left over. And then it struck me. Don't wait seize the moment. Make rice pudding you always have wanted to. So after a little search and a little adaptation to what I have on hand I have made some rice pudding.

Days 25-27 catching up.
I have been swamped with a family visit and some need to group up with the kids. Which meant I couldn't craft as much as I would have liked to and kept me from posting. On wednesday I cast on and started a dish cloth I finished it to night. I also worked with my daughter on fixing up and re-modeling the inexpensive jewelry box she had gotten from her great-grandmothers' estate. I have included the before pictures as well as the current pictures. Tomorrow is a food day. Yum!
She got her gift....
A while back on Facebook there was a silly little exercise that had women posting their bra colors as their status. My Friend Chris unsurprizingly posted purple. Some one commented that It was not Cthulhu. I in a fit of creative sillyness asked for her Bra size. With Thing a day I made her a Cthulhu Bra. Here it is....
The wording on the back reads: Cthulhu Saves...In case he is hungry later....and Cthulhu is written 3 times between the cups.
It is something that I had to do probably due to my insanity. I know that I failed a few die rolls in my life.Wednesday, February 24, 2010
Day 24 : Cyaegha
I needed to make a card to go with my "sculpture" that I sent to the birthday girl today.
I stuck with a theme. From the 1983 publishing of the "Call of Cthulhu" role playing game:
"Cyaegha (Great Old One)
Description: Cyaegha is an enormous black mass with one huge spherical green eye. It is possible that Cyaegha's form is that of a huge eye surrounded by a growth of long tentacles"
The eye didn't stay to spherical but there is definitely a huge mass of "tentacles" around it. It was the first time I saw th phrase "Great Old One" when I was paging through the book so I decided that it was a good sign and an easy one to create with my time and supplies on hand.
I hope she likes it.

Day 23. Money and finishing up projects...
Today's thing is a small money bag for a friend's son, sort of. His preschool is collecting money for the heifer project to buy a goat. He was very taken by this and wanted to help more. His family hosted a "games for goats night" and I had to miss it. So I have sent him some loose change in this money bag and a toy goat. Beyond that I finished my hat and I may never get to wear it myself. My daughter loves it. I also finished my soft sculpture the full story behind it and more pictures will be posted when I get delivery notification from the post office so that I don't spoil the complete surprise. I have attached a glimpse of it.

Day 20 Needles, knitting, a thing, eyes and bad early morning poetry
For christmas I got a large box of 13" Knitting needles. I have been using one pair and I have decided to keep them in a vase. So I finally unwrapped all of them. Next step will be to paint the ends to help tell the different sizes a part.
I took some pictures but the late hour made me experiment with the lighting and the setting on the camera.
I also stuffed one of the gloves I dyed the other night. I don't know what I will do with it.
I cut out the eyes for the soft sculpture I am working on and I am experimenting on expression with them before I sew them on.
I did a lot of knitting too. I took a picture of my bookmark I have to decide if I will knit a bit more or just finish it off.

The little muses out side my window made me write

February 20th
I’d Prefer to be asleep
Promises of cold and ice reach my brain
Sounds of a snow plow.
Amazingly another sound
Bright and cheerful
A calling
Chuuurp Chuuurp cheep cheep cheep
A morning song
Life and bright a promise of brighter warmer days to come.

Day 19 Kool Aid Dying, Eyes and words
My daughter wants to make a 4 legged octopus (quadopus?) from a stack of white cotton gloves but didn't want a white one. So I pulled out the Kool-Aid again and we boiled 3 of the gloves in a sauce pan with 2 packages of regular kool-aid and a splash of vinegar. I took a couple pictures of the boiling kool-aid and gloves because it was so pretty looking to me. The gloves are an interesting shade.
I drew some ideas of eyes for my soft sculpture. I don't know which I'll use. What do you like? The last picture is that of the words about the eyes. (for those in the know roll you dice)

Day 18...sleep
My little one is not always the easiest child to get to go to sleep and with a little creativity and my presence it was managed and I took these pictures to show you. And to say that it was the extent of my creativity today. I really wanted to make eyes but it will have to wait but not too long...

Day 17 Breakfast, Chocolate Banana Bread, a glimpse of a hat and It's not a green udder..
WOW Day 17 already!
Well I started my free time today with posting for yesterday and making myself a delicious breakfast, a meatless egg sandwich. I hadn't used my "poached" egg dish in a while and decided that it would be fun and it was tasty.
After some other tasks I needed to use the mushy bananas up so I made banana bread based on a friends recipe only with a lot of chocolate. I worked this evening and when I got home I discovered my daughter wearing my in-progress hat so I decided I would share as it looks good.
Finally I got out the spray fabric paint I purchased for my soft sculpture and went to work. As I live in Wisconsin cows are often thought of but this is NOT udders. Not at all. Anyone got any ideas?
I am using a different camera are these pictures better or worse?

Day 16 a little late in the posting...
I could no post last night as we had a homework crisis that lasted until 1Am at which point I forgot. So I am posting this morning. I was asked to make dinner for the teachers at my son's school to feed them during parent teachers' conference. So I made a crock pot full of a white chili with rice. Very simple: 1 package (1 lb) of chicken breast cubed, 2 large zucchini cubed, 2 onions cubed, 3 cloves garlic cubed, 3 cans of chicken broth, and three cans of great northern beans (drained) combine in crock pot and cook on HI for 3-3.5 hours. Add 1-2 cups frozen corn, 1 cup uncooked rice, and 1.5 cups sour cream. Cook 30-60 minutes more or until rice is done. I smells good and I got great reviews. I don't eat chicken so I don't know.
I also had my knitting class and I attached the before and after class (and homework crisis) pictures of my hat. Well I will have several entries later today. I have a few hours of free time and I have a few small things to do to work on on going projects and I need to make Banana Bread.

a snippet (possibly left over in my brain from the failed love challenge)
I have this image in my mind and almost a dream or a wish.
I sit wrapped in a warm hand made quilt or sometimes a blanket. I am sitting knees up on a bench on a porch. My hair is long and grey my arms are wrapped around my knees and I am holding a cup of something warm tea or hot chocolate. My position is not sorrowful but just guarded against the cold morning air just after sunrise.
I am not alone I am sitting with an old friend and we are waiting for something to happen something expected. We chat happily about the upcoming day. I comes with such a feeling of peace and happiness I look forward to this day.

More soft sculpting Any guesses and Temporary doodling art.
So I attached the part of the sculpture that I made yesterday to the "base" of the sculpture. In this very fuzzy pictures (sorry between low battery and not good on close ups we have some poor quality) you may not be able to see my nice tiny stitches.
