Prompt from Seven days Seven answers
Urban legend has it that a poultry truck turned over on the 101 in the 1970 and the chicken that escaped capture have been living in the oliander along the freeway in ever growing numbers ever since.
Until this week most drivers have not had much cause to think of this and the children passengers have spent time as they have driven by looking for glimpses of the chicken.
Today was a different story. Just after rush hour a small group of yellow chicks appeared walking alone across the freeway no harm came to them but they were then stranded on the other side. Their Mother Hen a red and brown large chicken looking like she weighed 10 lbs. began to run at the on coming traffic to try and help her babies across the road.
Confused motorists stopped and their front bumpers were pecked at by the hen.
After 15 minutes she was able to get all lanes stopped. Unfortunately this meant that there were several fender benders halting traffic.
The police were called and the Mother Hen and her chicks were collected and taken to a small farm in hidden hills.
No chicken or person was badly injured.
