Memorable Dining experience

Prompt form here

A little over 11 years ago my parent came to visit their eldest grand child. Most weekends My little girl and I holed up in the apartment while my husband worked his second job.  My mother decided on this grey and snowy day that we needed to get out o the apartment.

We all bundled into the car. Strapping my baby in  her car seat and headed for the Mall the only place in Wisconsin safe from the weather in the winter for walking.

As it was lunch time we headed for the food-court. As my mother and father went to get food for the three of us I settled my self and my daughter at a table and got out the container of homemade baby food.

My parent returned with goodness from various places and some hot water to warm the baby food. As my daughter worked on a teething biscuit and cheerios I ate some of my food. I then fed her. She was not very hungry and ate only a few bites. My mother began to question me on what she had tried and what she could eat. She asked about potatoes and I said she had had some special baby mashed potatoes and liked them. Hearing that She liked Potatoes My mother gave my daughter a french fry.

I started and was concerned as the toughness could choke her as she had yet to eat chew able things. She loved it. She sucked on it and gummed it to her delight.

It was her fist forage into junk food and so started the slippery slope.

  1. My father-in-law has done stuff like this with all of his grandchildren, but mostly because he can't remember what is okay and what is not okay.
