The Photo cube

I have a photocube that hold 6 photos that I hold to my heart as precious. I am in five of the photos and with my is my dear friend Holly. The sixth photo is of her brother Patrick as a baby.

There is the photo of Holly and I at the zoo. Holly stands at the chain link fence of an animal enclosure but she is looking at something or some one behind the camera. It a bit of her chubby toddler tummy showing below her pink shrit and above the matching pants. Her hands holding the fence that is taller than she is. Beyond it is a bare slope with a few stubby palm trees. I am sitting in a metal and presumably vinyl stroller. From today’s standards it looks primitive and blocky. The vinyl seat is yellow and flowered reminding me of the 1970’s. My powder blue dress is bunched up in the seat and my chubby toddler legs are skewed on the footrest. I have on the telltale white leather baby shoes that even today are a common first shoe for little feet. I too look to the person or object of interest behind the camera.  The photo is slightly yellowed with time.

The next photo is one of two of Holly and I at the beach. I assume that it is Venice beach but it can just as easily be playa del ray. These are active shots we are caught in motion playing in the incoming tide. We each wear sunsuit of the day. Little bloomers with an attached bib that buttons like bib overalls. Mine has some blue and red smocking on the bib, Holly’s is simple and green. We are smiling with bucket and other sand and water toys in hand. In both photos I am running. In one that show the most water it splashes around my ankles. To this day I know and love the feeling of sea water moving around my feet. But although this is a sensory memory I do not have memories of any of these photos or the days the capture. I was too young to form strong memories but never the less these photos are precious to me.

  1. Very sweet Vicki. I would strongly suggest proofing the second paragraph. Although you made me laugh, I don't think it is quit the effect you were going for.

  2. I fixed it. I couldn't let the "shit" remain. *wink wink*
